Games Of Thrones prequel series gets some stars

The upcoming HBO Game Of Thrones prequel series has finally added some stars.

Up first is Naomi Watts (Mulholland DriveKing Kong), who is set to take on the lead role. She’s basically the Sean Bean of the new series (let’s hope she survives a little longer), and has been described as “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.” Nothing else is known about her character.

Secondly, Josh Whitehouse (Northern SoulPoldark) has also joined the cast in a key role, but his character details are being kept under wraps too.

The new series will take place thousands of years before Game Of Thrones, and will chart the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes to its darkest hour.

HBO released this logline for the show: “Only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend — it’s not the story we think we know.”

Showrunner Jane Goldman co-created the series with A Song Of Ice And Fire author George RR Martin. The pair wrote the story, with Goldman writing the teleplay. She and Martin are also both set to executive produce alongside Daniel Zelman, James Farrell, Jim Danger Gray and Vince Gerardis, with Chris Symes co-executive producing.

The untitled Game Of Thrones prequel currently does not have an air date. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
